Everything Feels Worth It

At times,
Heat of the cruel world burnt him so fiercely
that he felt he has become one of those old deteriorated things kept in the store room… beyond repair!

The fire soaked up his dreams.
Dry eyes… tired of trying to teach the same lesson of kindness
over and over again every single time with a vision that someday
people will understand… They are not the only ones having the ‘rough day’

Overwhelmed with madness and intervened with experiences
that leave scars as life gets scraped with tragedies,
He became a fusion of anger and disappointment,
The fusion that is harder to imagine and even harder to take.

The world tore him apart
like those pages you once keep in corner of a drawer
and tear them up questioning yourself if they were ever a necessary.

The dark side, exposed to the heat,
often came out… making him labelled as ‘Insane’

But for good and bad
THINGS CHANGE

Life is never the opinion of an eighth standard school boy.
It is like those questions of calculus where surprises wait for you at every step.

He met her one day.
The day melted into night differently that day!

She saw him tracing out his pain in ways a beautiful heart would never do.
Yet she danced with his demons!
She became the reader of feelings rather than words.
Somehow with time, it became a question to him how she could listen to the unsaid.
Rather than extending a bow of frown,
She managed o stretch a smile…
An innocent one indeed 🙂

At the end of the day,
He just had questions in those starry eyes

“Why after all this time…everything feels worth it?”

Inspiration knock at CCD

Its us who write stories,

But more often, I have seen stories writing us!

Some incidents pour life in you. This is one of those pieces…

A few days ago, I went to have a cup of coffee! at CCD (Cafe Coffee Day). I entered and rushed to the one red chair ‘n’ table, which just got evacuated by a smiling couple. I had no one in the chair at my table. The room was filled but I was having no one except the coffee. It was good, environment was fine, the waiter was serving well. Everybody seemed to have a charming glow. But my life, I never wanted to be that neutral and wow! I think that day…life heard me!

After sometime, When i was just about to go home and manage the papers, A shoulder in the way, collided with mine. I whispered “Sorry”. But he didn’t, He instead say “hey” . I turned around and saw a complete stranger…turning my fading face to a bit smiling, I said “Hello”.

He visualized something, taking his hand near his face and then, pointing at me with a surety – ” I have seen you and now I remember when…”
I asked, “have we met”
He requested to have one cup of coffee with me, I told him that I already had one, But he persisted and I had a positive reaction. He started to tell me a story about his goals and achievements., I mean they were good but the scene made no sense!!
You went to a coffee shop simply to have a cup of coffee and suddenly you are hearing achievements from a face, that claimed to have seen you and you know nothing about!

He told – “I wanted to be a football player always! but my dream was too big, in accordance with the family income and reach… At age of 11, I was playing the district level football match, I scored 5 goals in the semi-final and with the 17 goals in the tournament, I, as captain carried my team to the finale! ” Now some interest started to build up in me, I thought, leaving the boring mood swings that there must be a motive, this person is telling me about his life. As he was radiating words, The imagination was designing a scene in back of my head.
He continued – ” In the final, I got a serious injury when a player from opposite team struck me on the leg rather than football! I was asked to sit out in the finale!, It was assured to me that my leg is broken! But overcoming the fear and making up my mind again, I came back to play. Crowd understood my enthusiasm for this game…They cheered for me.

As I came back, the score was equal –  2-2
My fellows did a good job in the ground. But with me, It was terrible, I wasn’t able to sprint with the same speed, running became more difficult but I wanted to play, I needed to win. I knew that I might not get such chance in years again! In the dying seconds of the game, I received a pass, I wasn’t able to move,But I pushed myself forward, at expense of one foot, I dived and smashed a header, As my chin crushed against the ground, I saw the goalie missing the ball and that was the moment , when I realized that I have ceased the chance, we have won! My friends picked me up! And a person came from the stands, came down and tapped my back! I didn’t know who he was, Until in the speech he spoke that he was the national level coach in the field of football…

I was stunned! Saying that he has seen many players in the state and district level who lack that Giving Yourself for the game’ passion, he called me to the stage, and said that I had the thing that he was searching for. He offered me a chance to play in nationals…

I mean what would you say if your dreams ask you to turn into reality…”
I kept my coffee cup aside and said – “Of course Yes!”
And the same he did…he accepted that challenge years ago, He won the national 3 times and now he was about to play Olympics in June! A current in me lighted up! I congratulated him on his attainment…
Soon, coming back to the topic, Breaking into humor, I asked – ” Where was I in your story”
He pulled his chair and sat beside me. Keeping one hand on my shoulder he told with a smile “Brother, when I was about to join that tournament, I had no shoes, My mother pulling my ear was taking me back to home, And you came and gave me your new shoes! and inspired me not to lose so quick! I mean who does that!”

I remembered that incident… I murmured ” Oh My God! It was you!???” He laughed and said yes it indeed was.

We giggled and shared other memories, had a cup of ‘Cold’ coffee, because his story didn’t gave me any chance to bother about the temperature of coffee! 🙂 He insisted to see his game and wrote me the time for it on the napkin. I said “Yes for sure!”

He thanked again. We hugged and I was on my way… thinking, how magically! good deeds come back!
I got motivated by this village boy who climbed up to Olympics! This would not have been an easy job. His manoeuvre and hard work would have reached the limits! to do this. I was inspired by this young guy,

‘I was inspired because once,
I inspired someone’
